Geva, Yochi-Yochanan
Son of Miriam and Paul, was born on May 1, 1962 in Kiryat Bialik. He began his studies at the Zichron Yosef elementary school in Haifa and studied there for five years. When his parents moved to Rishon Letzion, he continued his studies there and finished junior high school. He then moved to the military boarding school near the Reali School in Haifa. Yochi was one of the best students in the boarding school. He stood out for his resourcefulness, his volunteer spirit and his personal integrity. In his graduation certificate, his teachers noted: “If you continue in this way, you will achieve great achievements in the army.” In November 1976, he enlisted in the IDF and served in the Paratroopers Brigade, where he was promoted to corporal on the day he joined the army. Yochi could spare himself the tough basic training, because he had successfully completed the military boarding school, but preferred to remove his rank marks from his sleeve and go through the training track again. In February 1981 he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and was sent to an officer’s course, which he graduated in October of that year and promoted to the rank of lieutenant.There was an offer to serve as a mentor in the officers’ school, but Yochi, loyal to his path, preferred to return to his unit and serve in the paratroopers.
