Gesser, Shimshon

Son of Megida and Shaul. He was born on June 19, 1966 in Tirat Hacarmel. Shimshon began his studies at the Degania Elementary School and graduated from the Ariel High School, both in Tirat Hacarmel, in the electricity track. As part of the school, he was involved in various sports activities. Shimshon was accepted by society for his kindness and willingness to help at all times. He was a modest and quiet guy, gave charity to the needy and at home helped his mother with everything she asked and even before she asked. In his Golden Hands he repaired all the household appliances that went bad. Shimshon was drafted into the IDF in August 1984 and stationed in an anti-aircraft unit in the IAF. He played the role of technical salesman in the unit and did it the best. In the army, too, Samson was quiet and introverted and did his work faithfully, with dedication and precision. He was integrated into the unit’s operational activities and since his request to move to a combat unit was not given to him, he was placed in the auxiliary company (which is the most combat unit in which the conditions of service are the most difficult). During his vacations from the army he conducted tours and trips throughout Israel. His commanders, who had elevated him to the rank of corporal, recommended him to a course that would give him the rank of sergeant. On the 29th of Adar 2, 5746 (April 8, 1986), Corporal Shimshon Gesser fell in the line of duty and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant. He left parents, five brothers and three sisters – Shlomo, Danny, Eli, Anat, David, Menashe, Sigal and Orly. In his letter of condolence to the family, his commander wrote: “We will always remember the modest and smiling Shimshon, who wanted to contribute as much as he could, and in the most operational unit whose role is so necessary.” Shimshon fulfilled his duties with dedication and endless dedication. His death is a loss for all of us. ” His family commemorated the donation of a cover to the Cantor’s Ark in the synagogue named after Rabbi Chacham Yosef Chaim in Tirat Hacarmel, where the family used to pray
