Gert, Eliyahu


Son of Zohara and Yitzhak, was born in 1924 in Casablanca, Morocco. We were educated in a traditional atmosphere in the Jewish messiah of the city and later worked as a laborer in industry and industry. He was one of the first members of the Zionist youth movement founded in Casablanca in 1942, and aspired to a working life in a kibbutz in Israel. In the month of Kislev 5708 he arrived in Eretz Israel on the path of illegal immigration, leaving his wife and little daughter in the Diaspora to bring them to Israel later, when he settled in Israel and entered a group of kibbutz hachshara members in Ramat Hakovesh. (29.3.1948), while he was with friends guarding the road to Kfar Saba to secure transportation, was kidnapped by Arabs who had been ambushed in the orchard and the following day his body was returned to the kibbutz by means of the Beit Lid police and signs of abuse were brought to rest in the cemetery at Ramat Hakovesh. His daughter arrived at the kibbutz when she was four, in the framework of Youth Aliyah, and his parents and two brothers also came to Israel.
