Gennon, Mordecai (Mordy)
Mordechai ben Shlomo and Rachel was born on the 30th of Adar, March 3, 1938 in Safed. Mordechai was drafted in May 1957 when he was 18 years old, He was assigned to serve in the Armored Corps, after which he served as a tank commander, serving as the commander of the tank. During his service, Mordecai took an infantry commander course and completed with great success. Upon his discharge from regular army service, he was assigned to reserve duty within the Artillery Corps. Later he married Flora, and in 1963 his daughter Rachel was born. Eight years later, his son Shlomo was born. He was an exemplary father and husband and In his great devotion to his older parents, Mordechai continued to support them until his last day. He had many friends whom were drawn to his feverish personality and understanding of others. On the 20th of Iyar, May 20, 1976, Mordechai fell during active reserve service in the Lebanese border area during security patrols along the border. He was laid to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Haifa, leaving behind a wife, son and daughter. His parents donated a curtain for the aron Kodesh to the synagogue in Kiryat Motzkin, in his memory,
