Gellert, Amikam (Mickey)


Son of Paula and Gyula. He was born on Budapest, Hungary, the only son of Holocaust survivors, and immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1957 on the eighth anniversary of his birth in 1957. Amikam was known by everyone as “Mickey.” The family settled in Jerusalem and Mickey He studied at the Agron Elementary School in the Kiryat Hayovel neighborhood, where he continued his high school studies at the university high school, and later on at the Hanoar Hazioni High School. A production engineer enlisted in compulsory military service and was stationed in the IAF In 1980, he married Aviva and the couple had two children, Dana and Elad, who fell during his service and died of cancer on Sunday. (14.8.1988) and was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. He left behind a wife, a son, a daughter, and a mother. In his obituary, the commander spoke of Mickey’s responsible duties and the sense of security that had given everyone the knowledge that the task was in responsible hands. He also noted the general admiration for Mickey’s dedication to work.
