Geller, Eyal

Born in Rishon Le Zion on September 19, 1963, he was the eldest brother of Ran and Sharon, and began his elementary studies at the “Atid” school, where he studied at the “Ort Banim” high school. Eyal was a young boy who had a lot of experience and was able to find a way to improvise. And he took part in a variety of leisure activities, and the roots of his love of flying can be identified at the time: from the fourth grade In the eighth grade he joined the computer enrichment classes at Tel Aviv University and Eyal became a member of the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement, and later became a mentor and volunteered to volunteer for Shlita in the framework of the movement at Kibbutz Sasa before joining the IDF “Eyal was very sensitive … not many noticed it, partly because he knew how to hide it with great talent by way of wit, joking, etc…. Without a doubt, increased in his intelligence and in other characteristics of his peers. Nevertheless, he adhered faithfully to his modesty. His involvement in what he was doing and the concern he found revealed warmed his heart and earned him the esteem of his teammates … “At the end of January 1982, Eyal was drafted into the army. In the course of his service in the Nahal Brigade, he was drafted as a helicopter pilot and was assigned to the base of Hatzerim as a pilot of an ape helicopter, and later served as a pilot of the Yasur helicopter at the Tel Nof Air Force base. A computer officer and a training officer, and in 1988 he married Orly, and they moved to a family housing project at the base, and their daughter, Daniel, was born in 1991. In 1989, Eyal was born as an artillery officer, Soon he became head of the department. After two years Eyal began studying electrical and electronic engineering at Tel Aviv University. After his death, it was decided to call the facility after him, “Gallery”, and in his last position in the IDF he served as head of the air crew, helicopters and transport division in the officers’ division. Eyal was one of the pillars of the industry – professional and personal, and was considered an officer in depth, thorough and especially talented. Among other things, he accompanied the Yasur 2000 project at the critical stages of its development. “Every day, every morning, a special blessing opens the day, always varied, always surprising, never unexpected, hours of discussions, travel … and never angry, Always smiling, full of riddles and jokes, always laughing and funny … and there were also long, long conversations … on every subject we talked about, we argued – you always knew how to express an opinion, you always knew what to say … to discover infinite understanding and expertise … “Eyal Was killed in the course of his duty on the 31st of Nisan 5756 (March 31, 1996) in a helicopter accident while on a training flight. With him were Capt. Ofer Schwartz, RGG David Weizmann, Sergeant Guy Shafir, Cpl. Inbal Tawasi, Corporal Ezra Doron and Cpl. He was thirty-three years old when he fell. Eyal was laid to rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery. Survived by his wife, two children, parents, brother and sister.
