Geller, Abraham
Son of Malo and Zvi, was born on September 16, 1924 in Zopowka, Volhynia, Poland. At the age of eight, the family emigrated to Uruguay and settled in Montevideo, the capital. Where he acquired popular education and was educated in a Jewish spirit. Avraham was a member of the Hanoar Hazioni Movement and worked in training kibbutzim. He enlisted in the Uruguayan Navy to immigrate to Israel as a chemist. Avraham immigrated to Israel in July 1948, and until after the war he rejected the proposal to join the kibbutz. On October 5, 1948, he was killed by the Egyptians and murdered at the outpost east of Ruchama, together with four comrades, and buried in Mishmar Hanegev. On the 15th of Cheshvan 5706 (15.11.1949) he was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
