Geist, Joshua-Israel (“Yoshka”)
Son of-Eliezer and Miriam. He was born on June 22, 1948 in Wolbrzyk, Poland. After World War II, in which a son and daughter were killed in the war, Joshua was born; Since this happened on the very day of the establishment of the state, they called Yehoshua another name: Israel. The family immigrated to Israel in 1950 with Yehoshua-Israel and a daughter they were born with. At the David Remez elementary school in Bnei Brak, he completed his studies and then studied weaving in a private factory in Tel Aviv; He worked in the weaving profession for a short period of time. He was very fond of the football game. He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved movement before his enlistment in the IDF (he was in May 1966) and his role was to protect the homeland, and his commanders and friends loved him, for he was loyal and dedicated to the IDF. Participated in all operations of his brigade. At the outbreak of the Six-Day War, he was still in regular service, and on the first day of her battles, he was on the 5th of Iyar 5727 (5.6.1967). He fell in a battle near Chen Yunis during the break-in to the city. He was buried in the military cemetery in Bari and was later transferred to eternal rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery.
