Gaz, Haim-Victor (Amikam)

Son of Zoli and Eliyahu. He was born on 25.12.1924 in Nabel, Tunisia, to traditional and veteran Zionists. In his hometown he studied at the Talmud Torah first and then went to study in the French school and liked his friends and teachers. When he was a student, he joined the Betar movement and soon became absorbed in the work of the branch. His activities increased with the entry of the Germans and the imposition of their anti-Semitic laws and forced labor. While working on the fortifications and airports, he deliberately slowed down the work and reduced production and encouraged other Jews to do the same. In 1945 he immigrated to Palestine and settled in Jerusalem. Although he did not have a livelihood, he refused to leave the city he was bound to with love. Two months after his immigration Haim joined the Irgun underground, joined the Fighting Force and began to participate in activities in Jerusalem and other cities. Among other things, he took part in the attack on the income tax offices in the capital. On December 6, 1946, he went with his friend Zvi Ovadia to attack the Israel Air Force building in Jerusalem. On their way to their destination, the car that drove them exploded and the two were killed in the explosion. He was laid to rest on the Mount of Olives.
