Pinchas, son of Rosa and Alfred, was born on the 16th of Tammuz 5708 (16.7.1948) in the city of Cesky Tyshin, Czechoslovakia, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1949. After studying at the Tel Hai elementary school and at the Ironi High School in Haifa, he completed law studies at Tel Aviv University and was admitted as a law graduate. Pinchas was a diligent and thirsty student, and the more he learned, the more eager he became to learn. And after being certified as a law graduate, he enrolled in the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Haifa. Although he excelled in his studies, he was humble and did not try to flaunt his knowledge. He was a member of the “Scouts” movement, took part in its activities regularly, and in the course of time guided the movement. During his high school years, he participated in the Gadna commanders’ course. He was kind, humble, modest, pleasant and sympathetic to his acquaintances and friends, who called him “Pini”. By nature, he excelled with determination and great will, and before his enlistment (because of his intention to volunteer for an elite unit) he improved his physical fitness by long-distance runs at the end of a long school day. During his academic studies, he won a tender for the position of reserve coordinator for reserve duty and fought hard for his friends. He was also active in the movement for the Jews of the Soviet Union and encouraged his friends to take part in a large demonstration for the release of Silva Zalmanson. On the other hand, he refused to engage in political activity within the framework of the student organization. He read many books and devoted much of his free time to listen to music, and even played the violin, guitar, and trumpet in the school orchestra and the municipal youth orchestra. During his academic studies, he helped his father run a plastic factory without leaving his studies. Despite the heavy workload during the day and the nighttime studies, he saw great blessings in both fields of his activity and contributed significantly to the advancement of the plant. Indeed, the positive results were realized in his lifetime. Pinchas was drafted into the IDF in early August 1966 and volunteered for the Paratroopers Brigade after finishing basic training, completing an officer training course, even though he was forced to stop his participation due to illness. He was given the rank of lieutenant, and was given the reputation of a good officer with a great deal of professional knowledge, and his commanding officer said: “He is devoted to his work and shows initiative, has great organizational ability and a sincere desire to succeed in carrying out the tasks assigned to him. And an excellent fighter. ” During the Six-Day War, he participated in the brutal battle for the Ali-Munter post in the Gaza Strip, where he underwent difficult experiences. At the end of his compulsory service, he volunteered to continue his regular service. He was always careful not to worry his parents; He did not say much about his difficulties in order not to be surprised and did not speak about his achievements and actions, and out of modesty. During the Yom Kippur War, Pinhas volunteered to fight in the ranks of the Golani Brigade, even though he did not receive a summons. He excelled bravely and spiritually in all stages of the fighting. On the 18th of Tishrei 5734 (October 14, 1973), during a battle in the Mazra’at Beit Jann area in the Golan Heights, the commander requested volunteers for a special operation, in order to destroy an enemy squad equipped with missiles that placed an ambush at the junction. Pinchas volunteered to go on a mission, during which he was hit by a sniper and killed. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. Survived by his parents and brother. In a letter of condolence to the family: “Pinchas fought valiantly and bravely. He was one of the best officers in the battalion. Was a devoted, purposeful officer, loved by his friends and subordinates. “His family published a book in his memory, including some of his characters; they also donated money to establish a scholarship fund in his name at the Haifa Municipal High School; His family and acquaintances established in his memory a monument erected in the Carmel forests.
