Gavrieli, Shimon
Son of Chana and Eliyahu. He was born on July 1, 1969 in Haifa. Shimon began to study at Neve Sha’anan Elementary School, continued to study in the junior high school at Ironi Gimel School, studied for one year at the Air Force Technical School, and for two years he studied electronics at the Shu’ab High School – all of them He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement, loved sports, especially swimming and running, and before his induction into the IDF, he practiced walking fast and lifting weights in order to gain physical fitness. Shimon was conscripted into the IDF in November 1987, and while undergoing basic training, on the 12th of Kislev 5748 (December 12, 1987), he fell during his service and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. He left a father, two brothers and a sister – Micha, Yehoshua and Shoshana. To commemorate his memory, a monument was erected in the Shuv School, in which a scholarship for his needy students is distributed.
