Gavish, Yehuda

Son of Jonah and Jacob. He was born on July 17, 1927 in Hadera. Palmach units set out to blow up eleven bridges of roads and railways in eight places in the country, in order to detach them from the neighboring countries. The unit encountered fire and the fourteen soldiers were killed. Thirteen of them, including Yehuda, were killed when the fire hit the explosives they were carrying, and the railway bridge was destroyed by the fighters who took shelter between its pillars. Yehuda was 19 when he fell. He was brought to rest in a mass grave in the cemetery on the Carmel coast. He left behind parents and two brothers.
