Gavish, Doron (“Donny”)

Gavish, Doron (“Donny”)

Son of Yehuda and Bruria are a great brother to Urit. He was born on April 9, 1950 in Haifa. He completed his elementary and high school studies at the Reali School in his hometown. He was a member of the Scouts organization near the Reali School. Doron was a solid guy, straight-headed and sharp-eyed – a sabra in every way. He loved sports and did a lot of bodybuilding. He showed great interest in weapons and was an outstanding shooter. Thanks to these qualities, he attained leadership positions during his studies at the Reali School in Haifa. At that time, the students of the military school tried to impose their will by force on other students, who surrendered to them, except for Doron. He swung his hand over them and in a free battle subdued them. From childhood he aspired to be a military man, perhaps because he often heard in his parents’ house about weapons and wars, or because he read the thoughts of his father, who grew up in the ranks of the infantry. In all his actions he would all say security. He kept his feet away from the tricks of boys, because he was serious by nature. He loved the country and traveled a lot. For most of his life he lived on Mount Carmel, breathed in his air and knew every corner of it. Among his hobbies he became interested in photography. When he was 15, he traveled with his parents to the United States and stayed there for about a year, but he did not like him because of his way of life and social relations, and he expected for a moment to come home. Doron was of a strong character, stable in spirit, decent to the extreme, and sometimes inflexible in his attitude toward people who did not appreciate their actions. His friends were few, but for them he was willing to do everything and give everything he had. Was a loyal son to his parents and devoted to them with all his Lev and soul. At the end of July 1968, he was drafted into the IDF and volunteered for the Israel Air Force, and two years later joined the career army, he loved the army and his most Yaffa hours were spent in the IDF. He had the sternness of his father and a degree of friendship and extraordinary generosity. There was no exercise that did not come first and there was no journey that did not achieve the goal in full. He was a courageous young man, bravehearted, with a vibrant soul and deep military knowledge. On the 11th of Tishrei 5731 (October 11, 1970), the pilot of Second Lieutenant Doron fell in the line of duty, was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa and was succeeded by his parents and sister, “Doron was loved by all, and he stood out for his energy, his responsible character, his serious attitude, both for the job and for his friends. The roles assigned to him, not only as a duty but out of recognition of their importance and value – and more importantly, out of unreserved devotion – – – Simcha family in Israel with sons in the form of Doron Yours. ” In the place where he died, his parents and friends set up a memorial in his memory, with a memorial plaque bearing his name. The wave-up is made of huge rocks, collected in the area where it fell
