Gaui, Amos
Amos, son of Gita and Jacob, was born on 28.12.1952 in Haifa and spent four years studying at the Rambam School in Tirat Hacarmel, his hometown, and completing his elementary studies at Deganya School in Tirat Hacarmel. He then completed high school studies at a three-year vocational school for technicians. Again in Kiryat Shprinzak, in the profession he drew machines. Amos excelled in light athletics and was a member of the high school sports team during his three years there. His activities contributed greatly to the school’s achievements in various competitions. He also liked ball games, and Bala also played on the school team. He loved hiking in the country’s landscapes, and especially liked to travel in the mountains and view the Tirat Hacarmel region, his favorite place of residence, with binoculars. Observing through binoculars always revealed new things, details he had not noticed, and a special beauty that had disappeared from his eyes. Aside from the mountains, Amos loved the sea – its expanses, its depth and its various colors – and he also watched binoculars for many hours. He commemorated his love of the landscape with photographs he took, for it was a hobby for him to absorb the beauty and transform it from a passing experience into a lasting one. He devoted most of his free time to reading, especially reading books on the history of the Jewish people and the State of Israel – fields that he was interested in, and he went on to study them. His love for the country was combined with his other love – for drawing, and especially for drawing maps. Amos knew the different regions of Israel by drawing maps, and his favorite map was the map of Tirat Hacarmel. He devoted most of his time to spending time listening to music and watching good movies. Most of his success in all the many fields he dealt with stemmed from his strong desire and his adherence to his goals. He appreciated everything that was given to him, and he could impart values to his classmates. He acquired the love of his many friends mainly thanks to his excellent qualities and quiet character, and rewarded them for their love by fulfilling all his social and public duties, with exemplary responsibility and devotion, with every task he undertook. He effectively filled every role. From childhood Amos was prominent in his cleverness and developed sense of order – a trait that helped him over the years to succeed in the profession he chose for himself. Before his enlistment in the IDF, he worked in the production department as a machine engineer, was highly regarded and considered an excellent draft designer, and performed very complicated drawings and plans that were difficult even for experienced engineers, He hoped to spend a year of work in a remote place – even in the Sinai – to save money for higher education at the Technion, because he knew very well how difficult the economic situation was and did not want to burden his parents. He was then transferred to the Armored Corps and served for a year and a half in Sinai, during which he drew a map of the Egyptian sector in the southern part of the Suez Canal. Afterward, he trained in armored personnel carriers and tank guns, served in the Armored Corps School and trained seven soldiers, taught them artillery and the use of modern and sophisticated weapons, and was one of the first to use the weapon. , And in particular he liked to help his younger siblings, helping them prepare their lessons, solve various problems and listen patiently to their numbers – a special relationship developed between Amos and his mother, not only did he appreciate and love her but also help her. Amos took part in the braking battles against the Egyptians on the Sinai front Teche way Meadowlark “, on the”(October 7, 1973), his tank was hit by a bomb thrown from an enemy plane, and he was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa, leaving behind his parents, brothers and sisters.
