Gatchau, Ashto (Shai)

Ben We and Gatchau. He was born in Ethiopia in 1981. He lived in Ethiopia and immigrated to Israel in 1990. At first he lived in Safed and Eshto (in Israel he was called Shai) and attended the ” And later moved to Lod and Shai continued his studies at the “Hameiri” school. At the end of his elementary studies, Shai moved to a yeshiva in Netivot, went on to a boarding school in Kfar Hasidim and studied at the College of Management in Jerusalem. Shai had a way of looking deeply into life, observing the large and small details that make up everyday life and images of the natural world, with his literary talent and his ability to formulate. “Life is like a rose made of earth in crimson,” he used to say, “or with happiness and richness of life drawn on the line, and not deviating from the line.” He always preached to all those around him about the beauty of life and the need to take good advantage of every minute. Shai had many friends who loved his girlfriend, friends from Lod and the schools where he studied. Everyone loved his gentle mental qualities, his calmness, his patience, his golden heart and his ability to connect with man. In leisure, Shai worked in sports. Mostly he liked to play basketball, a game in which he took good advantage of his height. In March 2001 Shay joined the IDF and began to serve as a combat soldier in the Border Police in Judea and Samaria, where he spoke of how satisfied he was with his service and the unit in which he served, and how important the work they were doing. On the 5th of Iyar 5762 (May 5, 2002) Shay fell in service while he was twenty-one years old. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Lod. Survived by his mother, three brothers and four sisters. I remember the sly smile that filled your delicate face, the pictures of your childhood, the qualities of the soul that radiated to everyone, I just do not digest, and I do not believe that you are lacking. It seems to me like a dream, a night that lasts for weeks and even lasts for years, a difficult and terrible reality that can not be described, despite the difficulties and the attempts, the only way is to continue coping in the face of the wave of trouble and suffering. ” The members of the neighborhood wrote: “To our brother Shai, we write to you with all our heart, a heart that feels sorrow, expresses remorse, a heart that is all pain … We are sorry for you, our brother Shai, you are very kind to us. And now we do not know what will happen, we still do not digest, we still do not understand, we still can not or do not want to internalize the size of the loss, but over time, when the square you filled in our lives will be missed, we will feel your pain in great pain … We do not want to torture ourselves in the search for answers, and God forbid, we do not seek excuses, you are lost and enough for us, you do not regret us … ” Bar is wonderful. You’re a person of the most charming I have ever known. When I hear or see things that remind me of you I instantly get depressed … I hope you hear and see us, friends, and God bless you, and will enter heaven, and your soul will rest in peace. ” A friend wrote a song in memory of Shai: “How time passes and I run and I do not believe / How we grew up and played like we were two brothers / and an angel took you to a place that is hidden / And there is no memory left. / I always think of you, everything is different for me without you / my heart hurts I can not believe it, how did you pick another young man / fate is no mercy, he only picks the good ones. // Only pictures that remind you of your experiences with you / so hard and strange that you are in your world Dear, forever I will not forget / Because for me you were close!Werner brother. “
