At the end of his regular service, he volunteered for the career army and advanced quickly in his position and rank. His commanders admired him as “a dedicated soldier who carries out his duties carefully while constantly promoting his level, with leadership, responsible, disciplined and decent ability.” In 1972 Elijah married Rachel, and a year later his daughter Yafit was born. During the Yom Kippur War, he worked for a day without rest. When his colleagues told him to rest, he replied: “How can I rest when other men on the line do not rest and get killed, and there they need all our work.” When his son was born, he was the happiest man. He was modest in his demands, never asking anything for himself, always for the sake of the family and for the perfect work. As an exemplary soldier with excellent achievements in many fields, he was approved to study at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Tel Aviv University. He was very successful in his studies and successfully passed all the exams. On July 21, 1976, Eliahu fell during his service. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Holon. He left behind a wife, daughter, son and mother. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Over the years Eliahu served in the unit and we learned to know him as a decent, honest and cheerful man who was Simcha to help anyone. And that we can not stop him, for his own sake and for the benefit of the IDF “
