During the Second Lebanon War, Major-General Abserich was impressed by the seriousness and dedication of Elmer, who was an excellent soldier who did not rush out to his home and sometimes even stayed after working hours at the base, while his colleagues said he was prone to extreme moods – on the one hand, He seemed depressed, and then used to sit alone and play the guitar, but usually tried not to show his outward inclination towards depression, his social ties were loose, but the soldiers testified that he seemed generally happy and loved by all the transport soldiers he served. He did not share his troubles and problems with anyone and rejected medication or psychotherapy. None of his commanders or members of his family knew that Almer had already tried to kill himself, two failed attempts. Although he was in constant distress, he prevented his relatives, commanders, and mental health officers who were in contact with him from approaching him and helping him. He hid his thoughts of self-harm. His friend to the neighborhood, Tamir Gawman, said he had known Elmer for many years and the two belonged to the group she had spent together. After Elmer’s induction into the IDF, Tamir met him frequently, and on the eve of his death they met at random in their neighborhood, and when Tamir asked Elmer when he was about to be released, Elmer replied that he intended to continue his career and improve his economic situation. He said that on the Saturday before his death, Elmer had arranged his room and set up a television set in his room, and Sergeant First Sergeant Sinai Cohen, his commander from September 2007, described The day before Elmer’s death; he had carried out the tasks assigned to him as required; in the afternoon he went home to fetch a thing In private ahead of a two-day trip to Eilat and returned at night. I began to think that there was no future, no place to aspire to, and the future seemed farther than I thought, and when one does not see the future, it breaks down, breaks down, and slowly disappears. Signal the horizon in the sky, but always something to hide me … “Elmer asked to put an end to pain, suffering and misery that afflicted.
