Garten, Nathan
Born in 1929 in Radautz, Romania, son of Gusta and Yehuda, Nathan was born in the city of Radautz in Romania, and as a child he was a Betar member in his city and after World War II, when he moved to Bucharest, he joined the Betar agricultural training unit. In 1947, when he was released from Cyprus and arrived in Israel, he immediately joined the Etzel training camp in Shuni. During the day he worked in agricultural work and at night in Yemen. When the War of Independence broke out, his unit joined the front in Ramla. On the 7th of Iyar 5708 (16.5.1948), Nathan was killed in the Battle of Ramle – but his body was not found. Four years after the battle, on the 11th of Iyar 5712 (May 6, 1952), his body was found and brought to eternal rest in a mass grave in Kiryat Shaul.
