Garbovitz, Bahia (Michal)

The youngest of Masuda and Michael. Was born in 1909 in Tiberias. Her father died during the First World War. She joined the Arabs and lived in the Old City of Tiberias, so her family abandoned her. She was a good-looking and handsome wife and during the bloody riots of 1936-1939 exploited her contacts with Arabs and British police officers to extract vital information and transfer it to the Hagana. The Haganah benefited greatly from the news, and as a result many murders and disasters were prevented in the city. The Arabs suspected her and on the 11th of Iyar, March 30, 1939, when she was standing on the balcony of her house, was shot by an Arab gangman and killed. The murder shocked the members of the Hagana and the Jews of Tiberias who were known for their actions in order to save Jews only after her death. She was laid to rest in Tiberias. She put five brothers and a sister.
