Ganzarsky, Israel-Shmuel
Son of-Rivka-Lea and Raphael-Yitzhak Halevy was born in 1921 in the city of Pashdabush, Poland, and attended the local elementary school. He spent the Second World War in Auschwitz, Treblinka, and Buchenwald. He remained the only remnant of a large family, and he too often stood on the verge of death. In 1945 he immigrated to Israel as a caregiver for the first group of children who came to Israel via Teheran after the war. In Israel he worked in knitting and his friends knew him as a courageous, kind, quiet and manly man. After being drafted into the army, he underwent training and served in the Carmeli Brigade. He fell in the defense of Sejera on Tuesday, 10 June 1948, and was brought to rest in a mass grave in the military cemetery in Afula.
