Ganz, Wolf (Kurt)


The only son of Olga and Haim was born on 31.7.1919 in Vienna, the capital of Austria, and studied in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Jerusalem in 1938. After his father’s death, he settled in Jerusalem and managed his shop there Of his father “Ganz” in order to support his widowed mother, and devoted every time to studying the books, especially his most beloved profession: the psychology of culture, and at the outbreak of the War of Independence he volunteered to defend Jerusalem. Ze’ev was dedicated to his role and had an encouraging and educating influence on his surroundings. He fell on the 29th of Iyar 5708 (7.6.1948), on his way out of his position near the Hungarian houses in Mea She’arim. He was buried in Sheikh Bader Aleph. He was survived by a wife, Ruth, and a child, Michael-Haim. On the 28th of Elul 5710 (10.9.1950) he was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
