Ganesh, Ofer


Son of Shulamit and Victor, was born on April 8, 1966 in Safed. When he was two years old, he was orphaned from his father. Ofer received his education in his hometown. First in elementary school and then in the comprehensive high school where he completed his high school studies in a humanistic track. Prior to his induction, he joined the Nachal group, which he was about to enlist in May 1984, but retracted and left the nucleus on the grounds that the Nahal Brigade would not be able to utilize its capabilities as a soldier. On August 19, 1984, he enlisted in the IDF and was assigned to the Engineering Corps, where he completed his first training course in the Etzion camp near Jerusalem, although his widowed mother was the only breadwinner in the family and refused to apply for family support. D. (25.9.1984) replaced a member and was stationed at the guard post at the gate of the camp. A fatal bullet that was not his own weapon ended his life. He was 18 and a half years old when he died. Ofer was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Safed. He left behind a mother and brother.
