Gampel, Asher
Asher, son of Miriam and Jacob, was born on 10.10.1946 in Tel Aviv and attended the Gordon Elementary School and the ORT vocational school in Holon. He was an outstanding athlete, played basketball in the Hapoel Holon team and during his army service was a member of the IDF basketball team. He also excelled in other sports and chess. In his spare time read a lot of historical literature. During his studies, he was a well-disciplined student, loved by his friends and teachers. He completed his studies and was certified as a car mechanic. Who was very attached to his family and many friends. He was a young man with a sense of humor and self-confidence and a good atmosphere for those around him, having a stable character and temperament. he was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of November 1964. After completing his basic training he completed a course for technicians in power units and served for a long time in Sinai, where he also underwent the Six-Day War and was known as a dedicated and loyal soldier. In the Yom Kippur War, Asher served in the liaison unit of the Armored Corps formation in northern Sinai, on the 15th of Tishrei, during which he served in the army. (October 11, 1973), was hit and killed in the bombing of Egyptian aircraft near Baluza. he was laid-rest at the cemetery in Holon. Is survived by his parents and a brother.
