Gamlieli, Guy


Guy, son of Hagar and Tzadki Gamlieli, was born in 1983 in Kibbutz Kfar Hahoresh. When Guy was five, he moved to live with his family on Kibbutz Ein Zivan. In December 2002, Guy enlisted in the IDF and was assigned to the first unit of the IDF Field Intelligence Corps. At the end of basic training, Guy moved to the field intelligence school and began a course on intelligence officers, which is the first stage of the course on the way to the officer’s training program. On the afternoon of April 21, 2003, during a tour of the Golan Heights, where the course commander, a lieutenant, ordered them to cross the river and return to the same spot within fifteen minutes. Because of the strong current of the water, which was reinforced by the heavy rains In the previous winter, he fell, apparently bumping his head, drifting and disappearing into the river, on April 22, 2003, after a full day of searches, Guy’s body was found five meters below the surface of the water. He was laid to rest in the military section of the Kochav Yair cemetery. Guy left behind his parents and two sisters, and was promoted to corporal after his death. I
