Gamliel, Avichai Haim
Ben Shlomo and Shoshana. Was born on 17.10.1971 in Herzliya, the eldest son of a family of seven brothers and sisters. From his childhood, leadership was a prominent feature of Avichai, both neighborhood members and classmates clustered around him. He began his studies at the Beit Ya’akov Wolfson Elementary School and continued at the Kfar Haroeh High School in this community, where Avichai stood out for his friendships, was a cohesive factor between his friends and family, and thanks to his sense of humor he broke the ice Avichai’s friends spoke of his gentleness, modesty and simplicity, which they had joined together in a fusion that radiated warmth and true love for those around him.In his spare time, Avichai listened to the music that caused him In July 1991, after studying for two years in the yeshiva, Avichai enlisted in the IDF. He successfully completed a Kashrut Coordinator course and served in the Central Command. During his service, Avichai made sure to call home regularly, ask for his brother’s welfare, and calm his mother. When he arrived on vacations on weekends he made sure to visit his friends and spend time with the family. On February 24, 1994, during his service, Avichai was critically injured in a car accident in Kiryat Gat. For about a year and three months he was hospitalized at the Levinstein Hospital, where he struggled for his life, while part of the time he was in a vegetative state. Avihai died at the Herzliya military cemetery on May 10, 1995. He left behind his parents and six brothers and sisters – Odelia, Emanuel, Shalva, Revital, Sheshet and Ratzonel. Commemorating his memory by donating a Torah scroll to the synagogue in their place of residence, Immanuel.
