Gadi (Gideon), David
Was born on April 29, 1952. In his childhood, his family moved to Tel Aviv and lived in the Hatikva neighborhood, where he studied in an elementary school in the neighborhood and completed his studies at a vocational school in Tel Aviv, At the end of August 1970, and after basic training he was placed in the Ordnance Corps and underwent a professional course as a technical warehouse – ammunition. He was a good soldier, who was doing his job perfectly well. When his time came to be released from compulsory service, his behavior was noted in the certificate of release: “He carries out his duties, he discovers personal initiative.” After the liberation he married Simi. They first lived in Tel Aviv and the couple then settled in Holon. David found his livelihood with chandeliers and was a loving and dedicated husband to his wife and three children. David had artistic tendencies. He worked in oil painting, read a lot and traveled a lot around the country. During his service in the reserves, David took part in the Yom Kippur War and in the Peace-Galilee War, during which he was lightly injured. On the 13th of Elul 5747 (September 13, 1987), Sergeant David fell in the line of duty and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Holon. Left a wife, two daughters – Oshrit and Hofit, son of Tomer, parents, three brothers and four sisters – Yitzhak, Esther, Malka, Simcha, Shlomo, Danny and Yaffa. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote that “David served in the reserves as a storekeeper / technical clerk and performed his duties with devotion, loyalty and responsibility.” David was immortalized in the synagogue where he lived.
