Gabbai, Shaul


Son of Eliza and Rahamim. Shaul was born in Morocco on April 1, 1949. He immigrated to Israel in 1965 and lived in Sderot, where Shaul enlisted in the Israel Prison Service in October 1971. He served in various security positions, preferring to always work in the wings of “heavy” criminals. He served in the Shikma, Ashmoret, Ayalon, Beer Sheva and Nafha prisons, where he took a course in advanced noncommissioned officers and a cooks course. In the last months of his life, he was attached to the South Gush headquarters for daytime work. His last rank in the IPS was a sergeant major. Shaul married Gracia, and with her he brought Shlomi and Limor to the world. After his divorce he remarried, to Orly, and the couple had children Osherit, Shani, Eddie and Lior. He lived with his family in Ofakim. On Tuesday, October 15, 1996, the first sergeant, Shaul, died after suffering from a neurological illness for a long time, at the age of forty-seven, and he was brought to eternal rest in the Sderot cemetery, leaving a wife and six children. A special memorial service was held at the Sderot Civil Guard, where friends, family and colleagues came from all over the country to honor his memory in their presence
