Gabai, Liat

Liat, daughter of Esther and Morris Gabbai, was born in 1975 in Afula. In January 1993, she was recruited for compulsory military service. At the end of the course, she received the rank of corporal and was assigned to serve as a platoon commander and clerk in the Golan Heights. On November 30, 1994, Liat fell in the line of duty. Liat was critically wounded when a terrorist struck her head in hostile terrorist activity in Afula, her hometown. She was transferred to Haemek Hospital in Afula, but died two hours later. Liat was brought to rest in the cemetery in Afula. Survived by her parents, sister – Meital and two brothers – Shlomi and Shai. She was nineteen years old. After her death, Liat was promoted to sergeant.
