Gaash, Yehuda

Gaash, Yehuda

As a member of the Guardians’ Association, Yehuda was one of the first to confront the Arab rioters during the 1936-1939 riots. He served in isolated places from every Jewish settlement and guarded the Jewish orchards in the Arab region of Ashdod. The fact that Yehuda and other Jewish guards were located near the seashore allowed the landing of illegal immigrants on the Ashdod coast. Despite the fever that afflicted him, Judah did not neglect his role. He fell on duty in 1938. His memory is commemorated in the book “One Hundred Years of Guardation” by the Guards Association and in “A Nation in Its War”
