Furman, Rudy


Rudi, son of Hannah and Jacob, was born on May 24, 1951, in Yassy, Romania, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1961. Rudy was drafted into the IDF in early February 1970, after completing a driving course in the pre-military army, where he was assigned to the Armored Corps, and after basic training, he took a course in a half-track and was sent to serve as a driver in a tank division in the Northern Command. Rudy was described by his commanders as a disciplined and disciplined soldier, a responsible and devoted driver, who fulfills his role in perfection and with precision. Even when he was a soldier in regular service, he often visited the house, to be near his parents and help them as much as possible. He devoted his holidays to work and paid his parents. At the beginning of February 1973, Rudi was released from regular service and assigned to a reserve unit of the Armored Corps. During the Yom Kippur War, his unit participated in the battles against the Syrians in the Golan Heights. In these battles, Rudi served as an armored personnel carrier driver and fought with courage and devotion, and in the battle that took place on October 11, 1973, his armored personnel carrier was hit and killed. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Holon. Survived by his parents and brother. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant.
