Frotzel, Baruch (Bendet)

Baruch (Bendet), son of Frida and Jacob Frotzel, was born on March 3, 1930 in the city of Sieradz, Poland, and immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1935. Baruch studied in Yeshivat HaYeshuv HaChadash. Although he was forced to stop his studies and go to work, he continued to set aside time for the Torah and during his spare time he would” snatch “a Gemara page with his friends in Yeshivah. When the refugees from Jaffa came up at the beginning of the riots, he gave them his bed, and he himself went to sleep elsewhere. In the beginning of the War of Independence, Baruch enlisted and in December 1947 was sent to Gush Etzion. He fell fighting in the last battle for Kfar Etzion on 4 Iyar (13/05/1948). On the 25th of Cheshvan 5710 (17.11.1949), he was brought to eternal rest with the rest of the Bloc in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
