Friedmann, Abraham
Son of Zvi and Fruma. He was born on July 8, 1930 in the town of Jasenovka, Poland, to a Zionist family. He studied at a Hebrew school and belonged to Dror-Habonim. When the Second World War broke out, difficult days came for the Jews of Poland, and the child became the breadwinner and encouraged his relatives by bringing them food with all the gates closed; At risk himself took care of others. Finally, the family, along with all the inhabitants of the town, was led to the Treblinka extermination camp by the Germans. His mother and three brothers were killed by Hitler’s brother-in-law; Only the father and his son survived miraculously by joining the partisans. At the end of the war he joined a group of children in Romania; Where he separated from his father and arrived in Israel in 1946. His father arrived a year later and settled in Magdiel, but the son was with his friends at Kibbutz Dafna, out of a strong desire to create a new settlement with them. With his friends, he joined them, invested himself in work and in society, and stood at the center of the operations instead of as secretary of the nucleus. He had a tendency to music and played the accordion. He showed great love to his father, who visited him from time to time, and showed a great affection for his stepmother, whose family also perished during the war and saw Abraham as a source of comfort and joy. In July 1950 he was drafted into the IDF, and about a year later, on the 28th of Sivan 5711 (July 2, 1951), he fell in the line of duty when a grenade exploded in his hand, killing many of his friends. He sacrificed his life for the sake of his friends and in doing so saved the lives of dozens of comrades in arms and was brought to rest in the Magdiel cemetery.
