Friedman, Yitzhak (Yitze’le)


Yitzhak Friedman, son of Shoshana and Avraham, was born on July 18, 1926 in Jerusalem and lived in Rishon Letzion. During the Second World War he served for two years in the British army, in Egypt and on various fronts, with the rank of Lance Corporal. During the War of Independence he served in the Givati ​​Brigade. He took part in many battles as a lieutenant colonel, and because of his excellence in combat, he rose to the rank of platoon commander. In his first activity as a lieutenant (Barak), he took part in the attack on the village of Bashit, was hit in the stomach, but managed to return the command to another man, was taken to hospital, underwent surgery but he died two days later, on 12 May 1948. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Rishon Letzion.
