Friedman, Yair


Son of Miriam and David, was born on 29.12.1930 in Ramat Hasharon to parents who worked with sweat to the extent that they had established their rural rehabilitation, and was raised and educated in the spirit of his work. The book also found time to help his parents with their hard work in the agriculture Yair graduated with honors from elementary school and received a scholarship to continue his studies, and was also among the best students at the New High School in Tel Aviv. After the outbreak of the War of Independence and the announcement of the enlistment of eighth-year students, he enlisted, and although he was the sole son of his parents, he refused to enjoy any rights whatsoever. He was assigned to join a combat unit with which he fought in the Arab villages of Kfar Saba, Latrun and the conquest of Kakun, Migdal Tzedek, and Rosh Ha’ayin, and on July 15, 1948, his company replaced another company from the brigade in the posts east of Kula. The Legion forces, aided by artillery fire and armored vehicles, swept the positions of the platoon at the front post and forced the company to retreat. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Netanya.
