Friedman, Otto


Son of Harmina and Zvi. Born in 1903 in Vienna, Austria, he served as a teacher in an elementary school of the city and was active in the Social Democratic Party after the suppression of the Socialists in Austria by the regime. He left the teaching and joined the “Haoved” organization where he specialized in the carpentry profession. In 1935 he immigrated to Israel with his wife and his children and settled in Haifa, where he worked as a carpenter, but his heart continued to be active in the defense of the country. In 1938 he enlisted in the Nutrim army and served as a guard in Haifa and his commanders liked him and praised him. On 17 Iyar, May 5, 1939, he was hit by a bullet and was killed. He was buried in the cemetery in Haifa. He left a wife and two children.
