Daughter of Natalia and Joseph. Born on 9 February 1984 in Kishinev, Moldova, where she studied at the Jewish Agency’s elementary school, she was an outstanding student and acquired extensive knowledge of Jewish tradition and history, and completed her studies at the Model School Nelly was a beautiful girl and accepted a proposal for modeling work in Europe, but chose to reject the offer because she felt she was in Israel and pushed her parents to immigrate to Israel. She studied at the “Makif Aleph” high school in the city and quickly overcame the difficulties of language, She also excelled here and completed a full matriculation certificate with high grades, and Nelly was a pleasant and lively girl, with a sense of humor and a smile on her lips that became a hallmark of everyone she knew, very attached to her family, smart, responsible and strong. In July 2003, Nelly enlisted in the IDF, was placed in the air force and underwent a training course which she graduated with honors. She served as a maintenance technician for the Apache helicopter, where she was assigned to the Defense Systems Division, where she was assigned to the Anti-Missile Division, and from the beginning of her career at Naffi, she was able to absorb her speed, technical ability and professionalism. She wanted to know the reason for the result and never made do with it, and the desire to learn and acquire additional knowledge was a prominent feature of Nelly. During her last months she worked hard to improve her matriculation grades and thus dealt with the Arabs At the base, her goal was to study pharmacology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where she found great interest, and in the last three years of her life, Nellie had a boyfriend, Yevgeny Smurk, whom she loved with all her heart. On the night of Friday, November 20, 2004, when Nellie and Yevgeny returned from a company birthday party, a car accident occurred and Yevgeny, who was driving the car, died before he could reach the hospital. Nelly was brought to Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer unconscious and hospitalized in the intensive care unit. Nell’s brother, Vlad, received the announcement of the accident in Moldova, his country of residence. Nelly often shared her friends with her longing for her brother, whom she had not seen since she immigrated to Israel. She planned to visit him at the end of her military service. Vlad arrived in Israel after the accident when Nellie lay unconscious. From the moment he entered the hospital he did not leave her bed and with great devotion tried to find alternative ways of alternative medicine to save his sister. But that did not help either. On November 23, 2004, Nelly died at the age of twenty. She left behind her parents and brother. Sergeant Nelly Friedman was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Ashdod.
