Friedman, Naftali
Son of Dreizel and Jacob (Yankel) was born on the 1 st of December 1904 in Czernowitz, Romania. In 1909 their parents moved to Mannheim, Germany. Where he completed a real school (1924) and studied at the university and at the high agricultural school in Berlin (1925-1929). He completed his studies and submitted his thesis, but was not awarded the title of Doctor, since in the meantime the Nazis came to power in Germany. In 1933 he emigrated to Holland and worked in the laboratory until 1936, the year of his immigration to Israel. For several years he worked in Ein Harod and in private markets because he could not find work in his profession. From 1942 to 1948 he worked at the Meteorological Institute of the British Mandate in Jerusalem. But on every annual vacation he would move to one of the kibbutzim and take part in the harvest. Was especially connected to Merhavia. He admired the pioneering and fighting youth, especially since the outbreak of the War of Independence after the United Nations General Assembly decided to partition the country into two states and saw eye to eye on their heroism in the defense of Jerusalem, and on the day of the declaration of the state, On May 14, 1948, he was wounded and died of his wounds. He was buried in Sanhedria in Jerusalem. He was lonely when he died. On the 11th of Cheshvan 5711 (11.11.1951) he was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
