Friedman, Moshe-Aryeh


Son of Esther and Asher-Mordechai, was born on the 17th of Av 5730 (17.8.1930) in Eretz Yisrael to a privileged Hasidic family – the sixth generation of the Maggid of Kozhnitz. He grew up in Bnei Brak and studied in the Talmud Torah and in Yeshivah. During the War of Independence, in the battle for Rosh Ha’ayin, Moshe-Aryeh was on the first line of fire and was seriously wounded. On the 20th of Iyar, May 30, 1948, on his deathbed, his father gave his son a pair of tefillin, but Moshe Aryeh died before he could lay them. He died before he turned 18 years old and was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
