Friedman, Lipa


The only son of Frida and Aharon was born on 14.1.1928 in the city of Kishinev, in Bessarabia, Romania. He immigrated to Israel with his parents on Aliyah Bet on the Dziia ship on April 1, 1933. He studied at the Sokolov Gymnasium in Jerusalem and at the Beit Hakerem High School but stopped his studies in order to help his parents, despite their desire to continue studying. His concern for them was paramount. At the age of 17, he was accepted as an apprentice to the printing house of the Mandatory government and after some time worked independently and responsibly at a machine-arrangement. Lipa liked all his fellow workers, members of different ethnic groups. When he settled in the profession, he moved to Tel Aviv and worked in the “Achdut” and “Sefer” printing presses. He was a person who was kind and Simcha to do the will of others. Sometimes he wrote in the press about sports and after his trips he would give his impressions in a nice and humorous way. He was a book lover and showed a special inclination to music, playing piano and choir singing in the synagogue. Lipa was one of the first recruits in the War of Independence, despite being an only child. He served in the Givati ​​Brigade, and rejected attempts to keep him in vital work on the home front. He participated in various battles and all of them survived safely. Participated in the “Yoav” operation to break the road to the Negev and fell during the occupation of the Holikat outposts on the 19th of Tishrei, 5709 (October 19, 1948) and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in the village of Warburg.
