Friedman, David


Son of Sarah and Yitzhak, was born on September 10, 1927 in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. In 1939 he immigrated to Israel with his parents who settled in Ramat Gan. David graduated from elementary school, excelled in his studies and said to continue with them, but felt obliged to participate in the liberation of the homeland. He joined the Irgun underground and postponed his training program for better times, earning a living in a trade house that did not entail the duty to prepare classes during the hours necessary for “other activities.” He was courageous, disciplined and secretive. Against the British and the Arabs, and recently took part in an attack by the Irgun on Ramle, where he fell on Wednesday, June 11, 1948. On the 11th of Iyar 5712 (May 6, 1952), he was transferred to the eternal cemetery In Kiryat Shaul.
