Friedlin, Avraham
Son of Breina and Shmuel, born on the 13th of Av, August 10, 1908 in Libau, Latvia. He graduated from a gymnasium in his hometown. Avraham belonged to the Zionist movement and was also active in it. In April 1936 Avraham immigrated to Israel and settled in Haifa. After immigrating Avraham became a member of the Haganah and worked as a driver for his livelihood. During the War of Independence he participated in the conquest of Haifa. Avraham saw his participation in the war as a kind of revenge for the blood of his parents who had been murdered by the Nazis. Avraham died of an illness at the hospital in Pardes Katz onthe 22nd of Av, August 27, 1948. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak. He left behind a wife, Chava and a daughter.
