Friedland, Uriel (Uri)

Son of Yaakov and Aliza. He was born on the 7th of Tevet, December 29, 1936, in Ramat Gan. When he was three years old, his father joined the British army, and was captured two years later, in 1941. In 1946 he returned to Israel, and in the War of Independence, he joined the IDF . The five years of his father’s absence from the house, left it’s mark of seriousness and responsibility on Uriel. His mother filled his father’s place, and raised her son with great devotion. He completed his studies at the Netzach Israel Elementary School in Petach Tikvah, and studied for one year at Yeshurun ​​High School. In his youth, he was observant. He belonged to Bnei Akiva. At that time, he began to work as an aircraft mechanic, and continued his studies in evening classes, to prepare for the matriculation exams. Immediately after his exams, he was drafted into the Paratroopers Brigade in August 1954. On the 12th of Tevet, January 6, 1955, he fell in the line of duty. He was brought to eternal rest in the Petach Tikva cemetery. His memory was mentioned in Uri Milstein’s book, “The Paratroop Wars.”
