Frenkel, Gideon


Gideon, son of Naftali and Hannah Frenkel, ws born in Tel Aviv on October 16, 1936. In May 1954, he enlisted in the IDF and served as a sergeant in the Artillery Corps, volunteered for the paratroopers and spent ten years serving in the Sinai Brigade. On the fourth day of the battles, on the way to the Suez Canal in the jeep of the platoon sergeant, Gideon fell as he was delivering supplies to the canal, leaving a wife and daughter. His father was killed in the War of Independence in the Givati ​​Brigade. Gideon was buried in the emergency military cemetery in Be’ari and later was transferred to the military cemetery in Kfar Warburg.
