Franz, Samuel


Was born in the city of Sosnowiec, Poland, and graduated from elementary school in 1943. In 1943, he was deported by the Nazis to a concentration camp in Krakow and was interned in the Auschwitz and Terezinstadt camps Was sent to the hospital to be cured, and returned to Poland to seek his family, but his entire family was murdered by the Nazis and returned to Germany, where he passed on the illegal immigration to Italy and on March 16, 1947, . He was caught and deported by the British to Cyprus, where he stayed for about half a year and returned to Israel. He settled in Kfar Ata and worked as a laborer in the textile factory Ata. He was a member of the “Hapoel Ata” football team and one of its most outstanding players. With the outbreak of the War of Independence he was drafted into the army, served in the Carmeli Brigade and participated in the battles of Ramat Yochanan. Shmuel fell in Kassir, near Ramat Yohanan, on April 13, 1948. He was brought to rest in the cemetery in the village of Ata.
