Franco, Sai’d
Son of Simon and Alice. Born in 1950 in Morocco and immigrated to Israel in 1956 with his family, who settled in Jerusalem, he completed his studies at the Chabad religious elementary school in Jerusalem. Sa’id was drafted into the IDF in mid-November 1967. At first he was trained as a rifleman, but after a while he was transferred to the Armored Corps and was trained as an excellent armored infantry fighter. On Wednesday, 18.8.1969, he was killed in a battle with the Egyptians and brought to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, in which he wrote: “Franco Said gave his life for his homeland. He was a devoted soldier and a model friend, loved by his commanders and comrades in arms. “
