He was born in 1902 in Poland. After immigrating to Israel and settling in Haifa, he joined the “Alonia” cooperative and at the same time was active in the “People’s Guard”, which was part of the Hagana forces. During the War of Independence, on 28.6.1948, when a friend of guards on Iraq Street in the lower city of Haifa came to replace him at the checkpoint, a volley of shots was fired from his friend’s stencil and wounded Ze’ev with mortal wounds.
