Fogel, Dan-Asher


Son of Bracha and Yitzhak, was born in 1911 in the city of Brzezyn near Lodz, Poland. In 1943 he came to Israel with the Polish army, where he deserted and began working in his profession. Dan-Asher enlisted in the army at the beginning of the general mobilization. He served in the “Kiryati” Brigade and excelled as a man and as a soldier. When he was seriously wounded in the stomach at Kfar Ono on the 4th of Sivan, June 11, 1948, he was still trying to carry an ammunition box to the front position of the machine gun. He died before he arrived at the hospital, and was laid to rest in the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery, leaving behind a wife and his son, who was born about seven months after his death.
