Fleischer, Yochanan (Hans)


Hans Fleischer was born in Berlin, Germany on August 29, 1916. in 1934 he immigrated to Eretz Israel with the first youth movement from Germany to Ein Harod. He joined the first group of his movement, which belonged to the Maayan Zvi group, and settled in the framework of a labor company near Kfar Bilu. In 1936 he was sent by his kibbutz to serve in the Haganah patrolling the streets. In 1938 he went to visit his parents in England, and despite their fierce opposition, he returned to Israel. Three days after his return to Israel, he joined the Haganah’s field companies. On the first day of his enlistment on 26 Tamuz, July 25, 1938, he encountered an Arab gang that opened fire on the patrol, and was hit by the gang fire and killed on the spot. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Kfar Choresh. He left behind his parents and a brother.
