Fishgrund, James


Son of Netti and Zoltan. He was born in Bialystok on March 7, 1906. He studied at a high school in the area and at the age of 16, he joined the “Maccabi” association and later joined the Hechalutz movement and was an active member of the local branch. In 1933 he made aliyah and lived in Kiryat Haim, where he married and had a daughter, joined the Haganah organization in Haifa and worked for the family to import raw materials and afterwards as a driver at the fuel company “Shell.” In the midst of the bloody events of 1936-1939, he was delivering fuel near the Kinnere and was wounded by two Arabs. He was taken to the Shweitzer Hospital in Tiberias and the next day, on the 3rd of Shvat 23/01/1939) died. He was buried in the cemetery in Haifa. He left a wife and a daughter.
