Fisher, Mordechai (Tommy)


Son of Olga and Bla, was born on September 15, 1925 in Hungary. Mordechai immigrated to Israel in 1935, settled in Tel Mond and worked in agriculture. He was a member of Haganah. During the Second World War he enlisted in the British Army, served in a unit that was stationed in Egypt and later was transferred to the Jewish Brigade. At the end of World War he returned to Israel. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, he accepted the enlistment order and joined the ranks of the Israel Defense Forces. He participated in various battles and in the battle of Maar near Nazareth fell on September 8, 1948. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Nahalat Yitzhak, leaving behind a wife, Leah
